Seminar
: Winning the Conflict |
|
DURATION : 1-day seminar
presented by Dr. Arnold Mol
The purpose is (1) to understand
what causes conflict in interpersonal relationships, both at work
and at home, (2) identify the typical styles of conflict-handling,
and (3) learn how to apply the most effective techniques for resolving
the conflict.
The seminar has a very limited theoretical presentation. Most of
the learning is experiential, in that participants will be placed
in teams and asked to solve a number of conflict situations amongst
themselves. For example, the will have to identify the typical conflict-handling
styles of characters in a movie, participate in a committee meeting
to allocate pay increases to a number of employees, agree on the
best candidate for a management position on a diamond mine, resolve
the conflict between management and the workers' union, as well
as participate in other conflict-generating exercises. These exercises
are scored so that teams are able to compare their performance against
those of other teams.
Participants will also be asked to assess one another’s conflict-handling
styles and give anonymous feedback to each team member.

Seminar
: Creating Winners in the Workplace |
|
DURATION : 2-day seminar
presented by Dr. Arnold Mol
Managers throughout the world today admit that the problems that
give them the most hassles are the people problems. Subordinates
who are not competent, workers who are not motivated, staff who
are not dependable, and so on.
Yet very few managers have ever had formal training in the management
of people. A great deal of effort is put into their technical training,
but the skill to manage subordinates is regarded as something that
is picked up automatically.
This seminar is aimed at correcting this problem and covers topics
like how to motivate people, how to set goals, how to measure work
performance, how to delegate responsibility, how to get subordinates
to think for themselves, how to stimulate innovation, how to exercise
management controls, how to deal with non-performers, how to reward
effectively, and how to develop self-confidence in subordinates.
Numerous managers who have attended his seminar have not only benefited
greatly, but have even described it as a life experience, because
he also touches on aspects like the motivation of children, marriage
enrichment, etc. There is a good deal of evidence that his methods
are effective, and have led to considerable increases in productivity.
Several magazine articles and television programmes have testified
to its applicability at all levels of work.
In the seminar itself there are numerous group discussions, case
studies, and lots of practical examples about what has been accomplished
in organisations throughout South Africa. The seminar can be aimed
at commerce, industry, or agriculture.

Seminar
: Marriage Enrichment
|
|
DURATION : Weekend seminar
presented by Arnold & Joy Mol
"If a man has failed at home, he
is a failure, regardless of where else he may have achieved success.
It is a sad fact that so many people's lives are devastated, or
affected negatively because of a poor marriage relationship. By
the time a couple are ready to see a counsellor it is usually too
late. Too much water has flowed under the bridge. Too many conflicts
are unresolved. That is why prevention is always better than cure.
Arnold & Joy present a marriage enrichment seminar over a weekend
that is not intended to be a salvage operation, but is geared for
couples with reasonably healthy marriages. The idea is to enrich
and strengthen the relationship.
The seminar starts on Friday evening and continues through to Sunday
lunchtime. Both Arnold and Joy present lectures on topics like temperament
differences, conflict-handling, coping with negative emotions, and
making your partner happy. At the end of each session a "kneecap
session" is held where each couple will go off privately and
discuss the issues that have been presented in the lecture as it
affects them. At no stage will any couple ever be asked to share
anything publicly about their own relationship.
The material has a strong christian basis and the programme includes
two early-morning Bible Studies. It is held at a resort, away from
town, and no children are allowed to come to the resort, even if
it under someone else's supervision. This is a time that husband
and wife need for themselves.

"If a
man has failed at home, he is a failure, regardless of where else
he may have achieved success.
It is a sad fact that so many people's lives are devastated, or affected
negatively because of poor parenting. It is easy (and fun) becoming
a parent. It is a great deal more difficult being a good one.
Arnold & Joy present a parenting seminar over a weekend that is
intended to provide parents with some basic parenting skills. In the
seminar they share a great deal from their own experience as parents
of two sons and one daughter.
The seminar starts on Friday evening and continues through to Sunday
lunchtime. Both Arnold and Joy present lectures on topics like building
your child’s self-esteem, shaping your child’s behaviour,
developing your child’s intelligence, encouraging your child’s
physical development and teaching your child to walk with God. At
the end of each session a "kneecap session" is held where
each couple will go off privately and discuss the issues that have
been presented in the lecture as it affects them. At no stage will
any parents ever be asked to share anything publicly about their own
parenting problems.
